Texas Accelerates EV Charging Infrastructure Development and Demand for Advanced Charging Modules
Texas is accelerating the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure as EV adoption continues to grow across the state. By the end of 2025, Texas had more than 456,000 registered plug-in electric vehicles, reflecting the growing need for reliable and accessible charging solutions. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Texas is adding approximately 1,500 EVs to its roads every week, further increasing the requirement for expanded charging infrastructure.
To support this growth, Texas is expanding its EV charging infrastructure through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. TxDOT has already deployed 14 EV charging stations, with 23 additional stations under construction and 28 locations in the planning phase. The state is continuing to develop a broader fast-charging infrastructure along major transportation corridors to support future EV demand.

As the EV market develops, charging infrastructure is moving toward higher-power DC fast charging solutions. Modern DC fast charging systems are increasingly adopting higher power levels globally, including 150 kW, 250 kW, and 350 kW+ solutions, to reduce charging time and support next-generation EVs. Behind these high-power charging systems, advanced charging modules play a critical role in power conversion efficiency, thermal management, system reliability, and overall charger performance.
Maxwell provides advanced charging module solutions designed for next-generation EV charging applications. Our MXR150050B 50 kW charging module features a 260–530 VAC input range, 0–1500 VDC output, air cooling technology, and supports parallel connection of up to 60 units. These features help customers achieve higher power density, flexible system scalability, and reliable operation in demanding charging environments.
As Texas continues to strengthen its EV charging ecosystem, efficient and reliable power electronics will become increasingly important for charging equipment manufacturers and infrastructure providers. We remain committed to developing high-performance power module solutions and supporting global partners in building smarter, faster, and more sustainable EV charging infrastructures.
